OOTD: The Name of the Game is Comfort

Today, I went for a walk, windowed shopped, but mostly I stayed home and watched the Super Bowl (GO RAVENS).  Therefore, my outfit is super comfortable, easy going, and perfect for those days where you just want to take it easy.

None of these items are thrifted, but all of these articles were either gifted or I bought on sale.  Specifically, the socks and the grey t-shirt were gifted, while the sweater and the leggings I bought on sale at Macy's and the NEX respectively for about 5 bucks each.

::::The Dirty Details::::
Grey T-Shirt: any plan old t-shirt will do!
Blue Studded Sweater: similar here.
Black Leggings: similar here.
Rainbow Long Socks: similar here.

Honestly, the key to this look is the socks.  To recreate, simply find a fun pair of socks and match your sweater to one of the colors that is present within the sock's pattern. :) Easy!

Here are some more pictures:

Hope everyone had a fun Sunday!  What was your favorite Super Bowl Ad (mine was the Tide ad featuring the Joe Montana miracle stain)?  What is your go to outfit or article of clothing you chuck on when you just want to be cozy?

HAPPY SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!
...but I digress...

Vests, sweaters, peter pan collars, and chambray tops were closet essentials I had been craving.  Therefore, yesterday I took matters into my own hands to satisfy this desire--popping tags style.

I journeyed to two thrift stores in my area--Goodwill and Buffalo Exchange.  Overall my journey was a success. :)  Here is what I got.

::::GOODWILL::::
Loft White Sweater-- 7.99
Gap Pink Open Sweater Vest-- 4.99
New York & Company Shirt Vest-- originally 4.99 * 50% off = 2.50

 :::BUFFALO EXCHANGE::::
Iris Studded Chambray Top--originally 20.50 * 50% off = 10.25
Peter Pan Collar Top (no brand)-- originally 7.00 * 50% off = 3.50

Mission Total (w/ 9.5% sales tax): $32.00

I am particularly proud of the 50% off finds I found at Buffalo Exchange.  When I entered the store, I told myself I was willing to spend $25 on a chambray top.  Finding one that was less than half of my price point and was studded-out filled me with endorphines like no other.

What are some fashion pieces that you are currently desiring?  Besides the items above, I have been wanting a hunter green cable sweater and a nice shirt with shoulder cut-outs.

Pink Waterfall.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. :)  Today's outfit features a beautiful waterfall skirt that I bought at Target during the holiday season.

This look is very elegant and makes me look ridiculously tall.  The train of the skirt turns the simple task of walking down a sidewalk into a more etherial experience. XD

Below are the details.  I'll try to link to similar pieces of clothing or the exact pieces, so one can recreate this look.

The Dirty Details
Stripped Shirt (old): similar here.
Flower Necklace (old): similar here, but feel free to use your favorite chunky necklace. :)
Waterfall Skirt: exact here.
Opaque Black Tights (very old): similar here.
Clark Shoes: similar here.

Personally, I wore this look to run some errands, hang out with friends, go thrift shopping, and watch a play.  To add some warmth, I threw on an olive anorak.  In turn, the anorak also made my outfit more casual and more appropriate for the more mundane tasks I did today.

Tomorrow (well I am writing this super late, so I when I say "tomorrow" I actually mean Superbowl Sunday) look for two blogposts, one will relate to tomorrow's OOTD, while the other will showcase items that I thrifted from Goodwill and Buffalo Exchange earlier Saturday evening.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!  What piece in your wardrobe is your go-to when you want to feel more put together?  Let me know.  I'd love to here from you.

OOTD: I Got Heart.

Welcome to February!  When I woke up this morning, the sun was shining and I just wanted to wear something that was comfortable, fresh, and happy!

This is a fun outfit to wear when running errands or studying with friends.  It's comfortable, but the big graphic and colored pants add a unique touch.  Personally, I wore this out to go and study.

The Details:
Heart Sweater: Buffalo Exchange 10.00
Yellow Pants: Macy's (old)
Rain Boots: Macy's (old)

To achieve a similar look mix a graphic, long sweater with colored jeans and some rain boots. :)

It's a new month.  It's a fresh start.  Let's do something amazing.

OOTD: Flowers & Leather

When I woke up today, my goals were to (a) wear my recently purchased pleather skirt and (b) incorporate some thrifted items.  This was the result...

The jacket and the flower scarf are some recently thrifted pieces from Goodwill.  Due to the muted color pallet, the look overall is very soft.  The presence of the hard, pleather skirt adds interest to this look by adding some contrast.

I also popped in some grey circle lenses.  I don't remember what kind these are but they are from the brand EOS.  My sister bought them for me for my birthday. This is my first time wearing them.  What do you think?

The Details:
Scarf: Goodwill 5.99
Loft Jacket: Goodwill 12.99
Pleather Skirt: Ross 11.99
Black Leggings: Ross 5.99
Shoes: Borrowed from my sister (but from Shoemint)

Do you own any pleather/leather pieces?  A few years ago, I thought leather was saved for motorcyclists and kinky time. o_O  Now I see, leather can really add a new dimension to your outfit with it's structured texture.

And now I leave you with an adorable nonsensical baby....

OOTD: Slouch.

It was another dreary day in Seattle, so keeping things cozy was my ultimate goal.  Flowing clothing and comfortable bottoms are key.

The open-knit sweater is the star of this piece that I was able to snag at a thrift store the other day.  I had been looking for a good oversized sweater for ages.  When I find this lil guy at the affordable price of $9, I was overjoyed.  Plus, it has deep pockets!  Score!

Beanie: Gifted
Thermal (layered under sweater for extra warmth): Goodwill $2.99
Sweater: Buffalo Exchange $9.00
Leggings: Ross $5.99
Shoes: Gifted (from Sole Society)

What are your go to pieces on dreary, cold days?

Lovely Ladies that Inspire

I don't know what happened.  But my passion for fashion has escalated as of late.  I think this is due to three Youtube Channels/Blogs: Wendy's Lookbook, Clothes Encounters, and The Fashion Citizen.  Wendy gives me inspiration for very refined, classic looks, while Jen, Stephanie, and Mel have inspirited me to thrift for these pieces.

Looking good and feeling good doesn't have to be expensive and this is what I aim to do.  As I search for my own personal style, I would like to share this journey with you and hopefully inspire some of you the way these girls have inspired me. :)

Below are some of my favorite videos/blog posts from the lovely ladies I mentioned above.
